NIX named a Finalist at the AI Movie Awards London 2026

Our Swedish folk-horror short NIX has been named one of 30 finalists at the James Drake Media x AI Movie Awards. It was chosen from more than 500 films submitted from 57 countries. The festival takes place in London on 7–8 November 2026.
It’s been quite an autumn for a three-minute film about a water spirit. NIX came second at Big Screen Hack, screened at the Science Museum IMAX during the BFI London Film Festival, and is an official selection at Escape’s MACABRE & MAYHEM fest. Now it brings Scandinavian folklore to an international audience of filmmakers, producers and creative industry professionals.
The AI Movie Awards brings together established voices from traditional cinema and the people shaping new filmmaking technology. This year’s jury and panelists include Tommy Harper, John Gaeta, Stuart Cripps, David Barron, Federico Luglio, Fab Morvan, Thomas R. Carrington, Maureen Kerr, Gianluca Guzzo, Mike Ho, Minh Do and Gary Woolf.
For Awarehouse Studio, reaching the final is a strong signal that NIX can grow beyond its three-minute format. The film is a proof of concept for BERGTAGEN, a Nordic folk-horror anthology. It opens the door to a larger world of forgotten legends, unsettling landscapes and stories passed down through generations.
Our ambition is to tell these stories through contemporary cinema. We combine traditional filmmaking with AI-assisted production, while keeping the atmosphere and cultural identity that make Nordic folklore so distinctive.
We’re grateful to the AI Movie Awards team for the recognition. We’ll see you in London.
